About D.T.L.

The Government Drugs Testing Laboratory, Gwalior (M.P.) [D.T.L.] is working under the administrative control of AYUSH Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh and is a statutory Laboratory established in the year 2019 at Gwalior that carries out Testing and Analysis of Ayurved/Unani Drugs. The samples are sent to D.T.L. Gwalior by enforcement Officers (51 AYUSH Drug Inspectors & Drug Licensing Authority of State); Government Pharmacies (Government Ayurved Pharmacy, Gwalior; Government Unani Pharmacy, Bhopal & Teaching Pharmacies of State AYUSH Institutions); other Ayurved/Unani Drug manufactures and by PG/PhD scholars of AYUSH Institutions of Madhya Pradesh.

D.T.L. is continuously carrying out its duties to be a part of broad goal of Department of AYUSH, Government of Madhya Pradesh to enhance public health by ensuring the availability of quality Ayurved/Unani medicines to the common people.

The laboratory has following 3 main sections to assess different aspects of quality of Ayurved & Unani Medicines as per Drug & Cosmetic Act 1940 & Rules 1945.

  • Chemistry Section
  • Pharmacognosy Section
  • Ayurved & Unani (Indian System of Medicine) Section

D.T.L. receives the samples of Ayurved/Unani drugs in the form of Legal (Form-18A), from District Ayush Officers/Drugs Inspectors, Government AYUSH Pharmacies/Institutions of State and other Ayurved/Unani Drug manufactures. After that, the samples are being tested according to the requirement of Drug & Cosmetic Act 1940 & Rules 1945and there under and the reports are being dispatched to the concerned senders of the samples.

Mission

  • To provide quality and effective analytical services in the area of Ayurved & Unani Drugs testing that can be achieved through employment of advanced testing facility with the sophisticated instruments and dedicated, committed workforce by adhering to core values of transparency, accountability, efficiency, commitment, credibility and innovation.
  • To be a smart drug testing laboratory equipped with latest sophisticated equipment’s and having clean and green eco-friendly environment.

Statutory Functions and Duties of the Institute

  • Analysis of Ayurved/Unani Drugs in terms of schedule to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and rules 1945 there under so as to specify the standards of identity, purity and strength for the drugs manufactured for sale, stocked or exhibited for sale or distribution in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Testing and analysis of Ayurved/Unani Drugs samples sent by Govt. Ayurved Pharmacy, Gwalior, Govt. Unani Pharmacy, Bhopal & Teaching Pharmacies of State AYUSH Institutions & other Ayurved/Unani Drug manufactures.
  • Testing and Analysis of Drugs and Testing and analysis of Ayurved/Unani Drugs samples sent by PG/PhD scholars of Ayush Institutions of state.

  • Perform quality testing as per Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 & Rules 1945 and controlled environmental condition to attain proper justified quality results.
  • Ensure that all laboratory personnel familiarize themselves with quality documentation while implementing policies and procedures in their work.
  • Strive for continuous improvement related to laboratory functions through personnel involvement at all levels.
